Parent-child master data: the boring module everything depends on
Customers with many addresses, vendors with remit-to versus ordering desks, employees with roles and rates — get this right and every document downstream gets right with it.

ONE PARENT, MANY CHILDREN
Basin Energy is one parent account with three child addresses and three contacts — one default per type, one primary contact. Invoices print the billing default, packing slips the shipping default, statements go to the AP desk. Delete a default and the system reassigns; it never leaves a document with no address.
VENDORS ARE TWO-FACED BY DESIGN
Keystone Metals orders from Clinton Drive but wants checks at a PO box. Remit-To, Ordering, and Ship-From children mean POs and payments each print the right address automatically.
PEOPLE ARE MASTER DATA TOO
Employees carry roles, rates, certifications, and review dates in HR — consumed by quoting, job costing, dispatch, and payroll. Departments roll those people into the P&L structure.
ACCESS IS DATA, NOT VIBES
Role-based access controls to the field level: shop floor executes work orders but never sees pricing; HR sees rates but not the GL. Every change writes the audit log.
